A work by Ruido Interno and Quásar, in collaboration with the Tourist Board of the Government of Cantabria
Parousia, literally: “presence, arrival”.
In the 18th century, a clergyman, from the Cantabrian region of Liébana, called Beato, wrote a Commentary on the Revelation of St. John which was repeatedly copied and referenced in the centuries that followed. Nowadays these copies constitute a body of amazing manuscripts of Hispanic origin known as beatos, the miniatures of which represent one of the most extraordinary manifestations of western art of all times.
The abstract, flat, colourful and adimensional style of these miniatures confers an air of unusual modernity to the manuscripts
Starting from the fascinating and symbolic story of the Revelation of St. John and the illustrations of these “beatos” we have composed a dramatic mosaic full of metaphors, allusions and images.
